Hi, I’m Iiris! I’m 19 and live in Finland. I originally made this website in autumn 2024 but I recently renovated my page so I decided to write a new “first post” of sorts too.

My reason for having a personal website is that I just think they’re so cool, really. But also that in October 2023 I switched to a dumb phone after around 10 years of having a smartphone, and have been gradually getting rid of most of my “traditional” social media accounts as well as streaming services since then. I’m also in the process of switching away from Gmail and other Google services. I’d like for this to be a space to showcase my thoughts and interests and to have fun and find new friends.

A non exhaustive list of my interests would be something like:

-lolita fashion (sold my soul to btssb)

-html and web design (who could have guessed!)

-old tech

-drawing and art in general

-rhythm games (project diva series, maimai, chunithm…)

-music and cd collection (lots of vocaloid)

-playing instruments (piano, bass, guitar)

-animanga + collecting figurines, manga volumes, blu-rays, figurines, plushies and other collectibles

My interests are varyingly niche so it’s not really realistic to have offline communities or friends who would share them, so I still want to have a presence on the internet. I used to think that I hate the internet and modern technology, but that’s not really true. My issues lie more with the big mainstream platforms and their algorithms. I hear a lot of people talking about it too, but so far it feels that very few concrete things to change the situations for the better are being done. I may talk more about my feelings regarding the modern internet experience or whatever you want to call it, but honestly most of the things I think have been said a million times already by other people.

I really would like to keep a blog, specifically. My main issue is with being too critical of everything I write and not wanting to post anything I write or deleting it out of embarrassment afterwards… I’d like to work on that. I’m also planning on posting more things relating to lolita fashion here, and keeping my wardrobe up to date. I have a Youtube channel which I haven’t posted to in a while but I probably will once I get an interesting idea to talk about again.
